Brazil's president defended the action by all countries to tackle the crisis
Best Growth Stock – The president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, said today in his weekly radio program that although the current international economic crisis born in rich countries and mainly affects them, their solution requires a joint effort of all.
“The world is a very delicate moment. It’s a financial crisis born in the richest countries and leaving millions and millions of unemployed throughout the world, especially in rich countries,” the president said in his weekly “Breakfast with the President. ”
Nevertheless, he added, “the position taken by Brazil to the UN is that the output to the global crisis should be discussed by all countries together.”
According to the president, the most developed countries have a greater responsibility for being the origin of the crisis, but all suffer the consequences in some way.
Rousseff insisted that at least Brazil is well prepared to deal with the crisis because it has high international reserves in dollars and has strengthened its domestic market and kept their jobs.
“Let’s get to ensure growth of the economy, we will maintain our policy of income distribution and we will provide more opportunities for all to improve life,” he said.
According Rousseff, “Brazil is showing the world that it is possible to make the economy grow at the same time make people better in life. It was so we got to avoid the global economic crisis in 2008 and this is how we are preparing to avoid major impacts of the current crisis, “he said.
He added that for these reasons Brazil highlights increasingly on the international stage and their views are becoming more respected abroad.
Rousseff said used his participation last week at the UN General Assembly to present exemplary projects in Brazil as the free distribution of medicines to treat chronic non-communicable diseases.
This program is “very important because virtually no country in its population distributed free remedies for hypertension and diabetes. So the interest (other countries) was great and our example is inspiring,” he said.
He said the UN also addressed the need for multinational laboratories waive their patent exclusivity to improve the lives of millions of people worldwide.
Rousseff expressed his pride at being the first woman to open the UN General Assembly and stated that, although the ways of participation of women are more open in the world, there is still much progress in this area.
