Pemex discovers gas field in Gulf of Mexico
The state oil company Pemex announced on Thursday the discovery of a natural gas field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico with at least 400,000 cubic feet of reserves.
Pemex said in a statement that the well Nen 1, located 113 kilometers northwest of the southern city of Coatzacoalcos, has an estimated production of 27 million cubic feet per day.
The discovery was made at a site near other gas fields in deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Mexico is more focused on oil production in the gas because of high returns, and imports some of its gas requirements mostly from the United States.
