The sale of electronic tablets will grow 98 percent this year, according to Gartner

The sale of electronic tablets to grow by 98% in 2012 up to 118.9 million units, according to the latest report from the consulting firm Gartner.

The study indicates that the IOS operating system from Apple will continue to dominate the market with 72.98 million units sold, 83% more than in 2011 and will continue to grow until 169.6 million in 2013, in a market of 369.25 million units.

The vice president of research at Gartner, Carolina Milanesi, said today in a note that this year the market has been waiting for the new iPhone from Apple, which reverts to the reference tablet.

The second tablet operating system in 2012 will remain Android, with sales of 37.87 million, and maintain this position in 2016 to 137.65 million.

Microsoft, which will come this year in the new market, sold 4.8 million units in 2012, 4.1% of the market, with the operating system Windows 8, expected for the fourth quarter the year and for 2016 will have sales of 43.6 million units, according to Gartner.
