In his opinion, Microsoft attempts to “divert public attention so that diverts the discussion from the freedom of open source to something superficial to not allude to it.”
Stallman has argued devoted “to freedom, to fight for it, especially since the field of information technology”, but in areas in which he admits to not being “leader” (the search for their name in Google offers more than 3.9 million hits) does to support the extent of his ability and with the slipstream of his name.

The four freedoms of free software are, in his words, “run the programs you like, study and change the source code so that it fits the use you want to give everyone, distribute verbatim copies of the originals and do the same with the modified versions for users. ”
“U.S. Democrats can be employees of Hollywood, sold to companies in film and music,” said Stallman, who believes that the current U.S. president, Barack Obama, “not much better” than previous Republicans ” George Bush, father and son. ”
