The U.S. Foreign Trade Deficit Grew by 14.1 Percent in March

The deficit on trade in goods and services of the United States reached 51.825 million dollars in March, 14.1% from the previous month, the government said today.

In March, imports rose 5.2%, the highest monthly increase in a year, and reached a record value of 238,595,000 dollars.

Exports grew by 2.9% and reached a value, unprecedented 186,770 million dollars, the report said the Department of Commerce.

In the first three months of this year, the total U.S. trade deficit of $ 149.763 million, compared with one of 138.962 million dollars in the similar period last year.

The U.S. deficit in merchandise trade with China increased from 19,400 million dollars in February to 21,700 million in March.

The consumer demand for more crude oil, computers, cars and televisions imported monthly deficit was above the expectations of analysts who had estimated a deficit of 50,000 million dollars in the month.
