South Africa is interested in buying Spanish military aircraft and ships

The South African Government has shown interest in the acquisition of several military transport aircraft C-295, EADS CASA company, as well as patrol height for coastal surveillance of the manufacture of which would take Navantia.

This project is one of the issues that have addressed the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Gonzalo de Benito, and his counterpart from South Africa, Ebrahim Ebrahim, as part of the eighth round of consultations that the two countries held annually.

In a press conference after the signing of the final declaration of the meetings at the Palacio de Viana in Madrid, De Benedict has referred to South Africa’s interest in improving its fleet of aircraft and military patrol.

After a program fails to purchase the Airbus A-400, the Spanish government hopes that the new project can prosper and to expand the client base of Navantia and EADS CASA.

A C-295 aircraft has already done a show in South Africa and is expected to ship maritime action “Flash”, Navy and built in Spanish Navantia, come in the near future to South African coasts to make also a test, diplomatic sources reported.

South Africa is a country with which the Executive Mariano Rajoy wants to improve their relations by the economic potential.

Evidence of this interest was the meeting Rajoy and South African President Jacob Zuma, held in Seoul (South Korea) last March taking advantage of the presence of both the G20 summit.
