39 pct of Greeks plan to take part in protests-poll

ATHENS, May 8 (BestGrowthStock) – A large majority of Greeks oppose
austerity measures agreed by the government in exchange for
financial aid and 39 percent say they are ready to participate
in protests against the cuts, a poll showed on Saturday.

The poll by Public Issue for the Kathimerini newspaper,
which was based on a survey of 527 Greeks, showed 66 percent
opposed the measures, which include deep cuts in wages and
pensions, and 68 percent supported protests against them.

But a smaller number, 39 percent, said they were prepared to
take part in demonstrations. The poll was conducted on May 4,
the day before some 50,000 people marched in Athens and three
people were killed in a petrol bomb attack.
