Airport body sees 250 mln euro loss due to volcano

BRUSSELS, April 21 (BestGrowthStock) – European airports lost a
combined 250 million euros ($336 million) of revenues due to the
volcanic ash cloud from Iceland, and 9.5 million air passengers
were unable to travel, airports body ACI Europe said.

“Tallying the revenues lost by the airport sector as a
direct result of the episode, ACI Europe released a revised
figure of 250 million euros,” the group said in a statement on
Wednesday.

“With most of their costs being fixed, any cost savings
during the disruption have been minimal for Europe’s airports
and were eliminated by the extra cost of providing assistance to
passengers,” it added.
