American Capital Mortgage Investment files for $500 million IPO

(Reuters) – American Capital Mortgage Investment Corp filed with U.S. regulators to raise up to $500 million in an initial public offering of common stock.

The Maryland-based company told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a preliminary prospectus that Citigroup will be the lead underwriter for the IPO.

American Capital Mortgage was formed to invest in and manage a leveraged portfolio of mortgage related investments and will be managed by an indirect subsidiary of American Capital LLC.

The company said in its filing that it intends to use the net proceeds within 90 days of the closing of this offering, primarily in agency mortgage investments.
