TORONTO, May 17 (BestGrowthStock) – Sales of existing homes in
Canada in April rose more than 20 percent from a year earlier,
while new listings also climbed, the Canadian Real Estate
Association said on Monday.
The industry group said on a seasonally adjusted basis, a
total of 42,078 homes changed hands in April, up 20.1 percent
from the same month last year.
The national average price last month rose 12.2 percent
from a year earlier to C$344,968 ($333,302).
The number of new listings rose to 99,901, surpassing the
previous record for the month of April set in 2008 by 0.6
percent.
