Argentine economy grows 9.5 pct in January yr/yr

BUENOS AIRES, March 28 (Reuters) – Argentina’s economy grew
9.5 percent in January year-on-year, the INDEC statistics
agency said on Monday, above market expectations for growth of
9.0 percent in a Reuters poll.

The EMAE economic activity index (AREAI=ECI: Quote, Profile, Research) rose 0.5
percent in January from December. Latin America’s No. 3 economy
is growing at one of the region’s fastest rates on booming
grains exports, consumer spending and industrial output.
