Arrest made in murder of Mexican-style pro-wrestler

ATLANTA (BestGrowthStock) – Police charged a man with the murder of a Mexican-style professional wrestler shot to death at an Atlanta bar where he worked as a bouncer, police said on Friday.

Ahmad Gill, 31, was charged with killing Christopher Long, 33, a 375-pound wrestler for Lucha Libre USA, which hosts live events and has a television show on MTV2.

Lucha Libre, Spanish for “free fighting” is a form of wrestling that is Mexico’s second most popular sport, trailing only soccer, according to the Lucha Libre USA website.

Gill was likely “a disgruntled customer” Long had escorted out of the bar on Saturday evening ahead of the killing early on Sunday, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

A customer was also wounded in the shooting and was released from the hospital Monday morning, she said.

Long, whose stage name was “Solid” was a comedic sidekick to wrestler Marco Corleone, a childhood friend from Atlanta, according to the wrestling website.

“When Solid is down he turns to food for comfort and is often seen enjoying his favorite snack, jelly doughnuts,” said the website.
