Australia headed for hung parliament: report

SYDNEY (BestGrowthStock) – Australia is headed for a hung parliament in elections on Saturday with neither the ruling Labor party nor the conservative opposition likely to win enough seats to form an outright government, ABC television said.

ABC TV’s Anthony Green, one of the nation’s most respected election analysts, projected Labor to win 73 seats, the opposition 72, with four independents and one Green MP. At the time, just over half of the votes had been counted.

To form government a major party needs 76 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament.
