Bavarian Nordic starts US vaccine deliveries

COPENHAGEN, May 17 (BestGrowthStock) – Danish biopharmaceuticals
group Bavarian Nordic (BAVA.CO: ) has begun deliveries of its
Imvamune smallpox vaccine to the U.S. Strategic National
Stockpile, the company said on Monday.

The deliveries come under a contract to deliver 20 million
doses of Imvamune to the U.S. government.

“The above does not impact the company’s financial guidance
for the year 2010,” Bavarian Nordic A/S said in a statement.

Deliveries were delayed beyond the end of 2009 when the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration required Bavarian Nordic to make
adjustments to its production facilities.

But the firm said in March it met all the FDA requirements
and would begin shipments in the first half of 2010.

Shares in Bavarian Nordic closed at 263 crowns on Wednesday,
May 12, before public holidays that closed Danish financial
markets on Thursday and Friday last week. Trade on the
Copenhagen stock exchange resumes at 0700 GMT.
