Body found in California may be missing Russian skydiver

LOS ANGELES (BestGrowthStock) – A decomposed body found in a California field still attached to two unopened parachutes may be that of a Russian skydiver who vanished two months ago, authorities said on Wednesday.

A farm worker spotted the parachute backpack and rigging on Tuesday while plowing fields in Perris, California and contacted police, who said they were working to determine if the remains belonged to 51-year-old Victor Frolov.

Frolov, a Russian tourist and skydiver, vanished after jumping from a plane over Perris on Sept 25 and has not been seen since.

“It is the human remains of a skydiver with the chute and everything still intact, and you can tell they’ve been out there for awhile,” Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kevin Smith said.

He said the sheriff’s department was not aware of any missing skydivers other than Frolov, but that coroner’s officials were working to positively identify the remains.

Despite an air and ground search, the body may not have been discovered earlier because the field had been covered in tall weeds and it was in a depression caused by impact.
