BP makes gas find off Norway: oil directorate

OSLO (BestGrowthStock) – Oil major BP has made a gas discovery off Norway, the Nordic country’s oil directorate (NPD) said on Wednesday.

“The size of the discovery is between 8 and 14 billion standard cubic meters (Sm3) of recoverable gas, as well as 1.6 to 3 million Sm3 of recoverable condensate,” the NPD said in a statement.

The well was drilled in the Norwegian Sea, two kilometers west of the Skarv field, the NPD said.

Operator BP has a 30 percent share in the license, in conjunction with Norway’s Statoil, which has 30 percent, Germany’s E.ON, with 25 percent, and Poland’s PGNiG, which holds the remaining 15 percent.
