BP not adequately studying dispersant options-EPA

WASHINGTON, May 27 (BestGrowthStock) – The head U.S. environmental
regulator said on Thursday that energy giant BP Plc (BP.L: ) was
not adequately analyzing options to using an oil dispersant
that could be harmful to ocean life.

BP has been using the dispersant Corexit on the surface and
below the spill in the Gulf of Mexico to break up the billowing
oil.

“It appears that BP seems more interested in defending
their initial decision (to use Corexit) than analyzing possible
better options,” EPA administrator Lisa Jackson said at a
congressional hearing. She said BP has used 850,000 gallons of
the product to date to combat the leak.
