TORONTO, March 30 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was sharply higher in opening trade on Wednesday, led up by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International (VRX.TO: Quote, Profile, Research), which made a takeover bid for Cephalon Inc (CEPH.O: Quote, Profile, Research).
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index (.GSPTSE: Quote, Profile, Research) was up 76.26 points at 14,006.61 shortly after the open.
