CANADA STOCKS-TSX rises more than 1 pct, Valeant surges

TORONTO, March 30 (Reuters) – Toronto’s main stock index
rallied broadly higher on Wednesday morning, led up by
commodity shares and surging shares of Valeant Pharmaceuticals
International (VRX.TO: Quote, Profile, Research), which made a takeover bid for Cephalon
Inc (CEPH.O: Quote, Profile, Research).

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index
(.GSPTSE: Quote, Profile, Research) was up 159.03 points, or 1.14 percent, at 14,089.38.
