LOS ANGELES, Oct 27 (BestGrowthStock) – Carly Fiorina, the
California Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, has been
successfully treated for an infection and will be released from
a hospital on Wednesday, her staff said.

Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard chief executive who had
surgery for breast cancer in February 2009, developed the
infection after a follow-up operation over the summer.

A spokeswoman for the campaign said Fiorina had been
treated successfully and would be returning to the campaign
trail.

“This morning, her doctors gave her the good news that she
will be released from the hospital today and can resume her
busy campaign schedule tomorrow,” Deborah Bowker, Fiorina’s
chief of staff, said in a statement.

“Carly is grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and
prayers from so many Californians,” Bowker said.

The medical setback came at a bad time for Fiorina, less
than a week before California voters cast their ballots as part
of the U.S. congressional elections on Nov. 2.

Recent opinion polls show Barbara Boxer, a powerful
liberal voice in the Senate and strong supporter of President
Barack Obama, running neck-and-neck with Fiorina, a political
novice making her first run for public office.

Political analysts have called the race a toss-up despite
California’s reputation as a solidly Democratic state, saying
voter dissatisfaction and the state’s high unemployment rate
have left Boxer vulnerable.
