Chile new auto sales up 89 pct in H1 2010-group

SANTIAGO, July 7 (BestGrowthStock) – New auto sales in Chile surged
89 percent in the first half of 2010 from a year earlier, a top
industry association said on Wednesday, as consumer demand
recovered from the impact of a massive earthquake and the
global economic crisis.

The National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC) said
125,155 units were sold in January through June, compared to
66,368 sold in the same period in 2009.

The union forecast sales of 260,000 new cars in full-year
2010.

Economists are expecting a strong rebound in domestic
demand during the second half of the year as the economic
recovery picks up steam following the devastating Feb. 27
quake.
