Chile’s Collahuasi copper mine continues ramp up

SANTIAGO, May 17 (BestGrowthStock) – Chile’s giant Collahuasi mine, one of the
world’s top copper deposits, continued to ramp up output on Monday amid a
subcontractor strike that hurt operations last week, a mine spokeswoman
said.

Collahuasi mine’s Bernardita Fernandez said a declaration of force
majeure, a contract clause that enables it to default on delivery
obligations, which the company announced on Wednesday, remained in place.

Full-time workers union leaders have said the mine could resume normal
operations on Monday.
