Collahuasi in talks with port to resume shipments

SANTIAGO (BestGrowthStock) – Chile’s giant Collahuasi mine is in talks with the nearby Patillos port to resume copper shipments after halting deliveries following an accident at another port, the Patillos port administrator told Reuters on Tuesday.

Administrator Juan Villacorta said port authorities met with Collahuasi executives to review technical and environmental challenges in using the facility, which normally ships salt.

A weekend shiploader accident shut down Collahuasi’s terminal at the Patache port, which is 5 Km (3 miles) south of the Patillos port.
