Democrats pledge to move quick on fin reg bill

WASHINGTON, April 14 (BestGrowthStock) – Democratic leaders of the
U.S. Congress said on Wednesday they will move as rapidly as
possible on a financial regulation bill and criticized
Republicans for opposing it.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi spoke to reporters after they and Republican leaders met
with President Barack Obama at the White House to try to
advance the financial regulation legislation.

“It’s obvious that the Republicans are saying ‘no’ again to
progress for America,” Reid said. “We’re going to move forward
just as rapidly as we can with the bill.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the time is long overdue to
rein in Wall Street risk-taking and rejected Republican charges
that the legislation would lead to more bank bailouts. She said
the meeting began and ended with a discussion of jobs.
