Dexia, Depfa big Fed borrowers on peak day in 2008

WASHINGTON, March 31 (Reuters) – European banks Dexia and
Depfa took the biggest loans from an emergency U.S. Federal
Reserve lending program on Oct. 29, 2008, when discount window
borrowing peaked, data released on Thursday showed.

The documents provided by the Fed showed Dexia took out a
$26.5 billion loan, while Depfa borrowed $24.6 billion.
