Euro, bunds steady after ECB raises interest rates

LONDON, April 7 (Reuters) – The euro and German bund futures
were steady versus the dollar on Thursday after the European
Central Bank raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis
points to 1.25 percent, as widely expected. [ID:nFLA7FE7M8]

The euro (EUR=: Quote, Profile, Research) held around $1.4280, down around 0.3 percent
on the day.

Bund futures were little changed after the decision and last
down 19 ticks on the day at 120.43.

Rates were expected to rise after ECB President Jean-Claude
Trichet last month signalled “strong vigilance” towards price
pressures. Trichet’s comments at a press conference around 1230
GMT will be scrutinised for hints on further rate rises this
year.
