Euro falls sharply vs yen, dlr/yen near 15-yr lows

LONDON, Sept 7 (BestGrowthStock) – The euro dropped sharply against
the yen on Tuesday after BOJ Governor Masaaki Shirakawa’s
comments that while he is watching market moves very closely,
monetary authorities cannot control foreign exchange rates.

Euro was also under pressure on fresh worries about the euro
zone’s banking sector after a Wall Street Journal report.

By 0733 GMT, the euro was at 107.11 yen (EURJPY=R: ), down
nearly 1.2 percent for the day. Dollar/yen (JPY=: ) also 0.5
percent lower at 83.70 yen.
