Euro trims losses after talk of hawkish report

NEW YORK, April 5 (Reuters) – The euro pared losses against
the U.S. dollar on Tuesday after talk of a hawkish U.S.
think-tank report on European Central Bank monetary policy.

The euro (EUR=: Quote, Profile, Research) edged up to $1.4195 from $1.4160 just
before speculation about the report emerged. It was last
trading at $1.4194, still down 0.2 percent on the day,
according to Reuters data.

On Thursday the ECB is widely expected to raise benchmark
interest rates by one quarter of a percentage point, which
would be its first rate hike since July 2008.
