July 11 (BestGrowthStock) – French aerospace equipment maker Zodiac
Aerospace SA (ZODC.PA: ) says it has rejected a proposal for a
tie-up from state-controlled Safran (SAF.PA: ). For details, see

Here are some facts about the French company.

* Zodiac recorded net earnings of 172.9 million euros on
2.2 billion euros in revenues and in 2008/09.

* Just under one-half of Zodiac’s revenues came from cabin
interiors, and around one-quarter from aircraft systems.

* Rumours surrounding Safran’s interest in tying up with
Zodiac have circulated for years. Analysts cited the need for
backing from a key group of Zodiac family shareholders as
crucial to any deal.

* Zodiac’s roots date back to 1896, when it started as an
aeronautical firm developing warships and airplanes. The
company says it invented the concept of the inflatable boat in
the 1930s, and sales rocketed during World War Two.

* Zodiac divested its marine activities in late 2007 to
refocus on aerospace and now caters to specific niche markets,
including cabin interiors, aerosafety and technology, aircraft
systems and galleys and equipment.

* Zodiac has 77 production sites around the world, operates
16 customer service centres in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
