FACTBOX-U.S. lobbyist political spending favors Democrats

July 14 (BestGrowthStock) – Washington’s powerful army of lobbyists
has been favoring Democrats by nearly 2-to-1 when it comes to
political spending for the U.S. congressional elections in
November, according to a new study.

The study by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics
shows Democratic candidates for the Senate and House of
Representatives and other members collecting $9.3 million
during the first 15 months of the 2010 election cycle, from
Jan. 1, 2009 through the end of March.

That gives Democrats a 63 percent to 37 percent edge over
Republicans, who got $5.5 million from lobby interests during
the same period.

All told, lobbyist spending reached $15 million, down about
10 percent from $16.7 million in 2006.

Following is a list of federal politicians who collected
$100,000 or more from individual lobbyists and lobby firm
political action committees through March.
