Finnish airspace closed until 15 GMT Monday -Finavia

HELSINKI, April 18 (BestGrowthStock) – Finland’s airspace will
remain shut until 1500 GMT on Monday, airport manager Finavia
said early on Sunday, extending its closure due to a cloud of
volcanic ash that has put European air travel in deep chaos.

“The limitation of air traffic continues for now until 6
p.m. (1500 GMT) Monday April 19,” Finavia said in a statement on
its website, adding no incoming our outgoing flights would be
allowed at its airports during this time.

“According to our forecasts, the ash cloud will stay above
Finland also after this,” it added.

It had previously said airspace would be closed at least
until 1200 GMT on Sunday.

Finnish airline Finnair (FIA1S.HE: ) was not immediately
available for comment.

Finnair’s fleet has stayed on the ground since Thursday
night, when Finavia shut Finland’s 25 airports, and the carrier
has estimated the closure to cost it around 2 million euros
($2.8 million) per day.
