Forex settlement volumes rise in April – CLS

LONDON, May 6 (BestGrowthStock) – The average number of daily
foreign exchange payment instructions rose in April, data from
FX settlement system CLS Bank showed on Thursday.

The average volume of payment instructions was 727,956 in
April from 722,874 the previous month. It had hit a record
775,027 in February.

Average daily values settled in the month was $3.99 trillion
from $4.15 in March.

CLS settled 1,135,266 instructions on April 30, which was
the highest volume recorded for a standard day, as defined by a
a non-peak day following a U.S. market holiday or quarterly fund
settlement day.

Some 8,000 participants currently use the CLS Bank service,
including banks and other financial institutions, corporations
and individual funds.

Separate data on EBS, global interdealer broker ICAP’s
electronic trading platform, showed spot FX volume at $154.2
billion in April, up 27 percent from the same period a year ago.

EBS recorded the highest individual trading day on April 28,
with $270 billion traded, the highest since October 2008.
