French minister cleared over Bettencourt taxes-govt

PARIS, July 11 (BestGrowthStock) – French tax inspectors have
concluded that Labour Minister Eric Woerth did not abuse his
position to interfere in the tax affairs of France’s richest
woman, the budget ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

A statement from Budget Minister Francois Baroin said
France’s General Inspectorate of Finance had also found that
information received by the ministry did not justify ordering a
tax audit of L’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt’s affairs.

Woerth is leading President Nicolas Sarkozy’s pension
reform. He was campaign treasurer at the time of alleged illegal
donations by Bettencourt and her late husband to conservative
politicians. Woerth has denied any wrongdoing. [ID:nLDE66A02V ]
