German SPD against fast-track for Greek aid-MP

BERLIN, April 21 (BestGrowthStock) – Germany’s opposition Social
Democrats (SPD) are against government plans to win “fast-track”
approval in parliament for any financial aid for Greece, a
leading SPD parliamentarian told Reuters on Wednesday.

“We won’t go along with this,” SPD budgetary spokesman
Carsten Schneider said. “First the government can’t decide what
they want to do and now they want to put us under pressure with
the legislative process.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government had hoped to
win accelerated backing for aid if Greece makes a formal request
for support. Resistance from the SPD and other parties, however,
could drag out the parliamentary approval process for weeks.
