Greek parliament to probe country’s financial woes

ATHENS, Feb 16 (BestGrowthStock) – Greece’s parliament will launch a
probe to find who is to blame for the country’s fiscal
derailment, the ruling Socialist party’s lawmakers said on
Tuesday.

“We will proceed to an investigating committee on the
economy to see what political decisions blew up budgets and
deficits,” Christos Papoutsis, spokesman of the Socialists’
parliamentary group, told parliament.

The Socialist government revealed in October that Greece’s
deficit and debt were far higher than reported by the country’s
previous, conservative, administration, leading to a fiscal
crisis that threatens to destabilise the euro. [nEUROPEAND]

“Our problem is credibility and we must regain it, at all
costs,” Deputy Prime Minister Theodoros Pangalos told
parliament.
