IIF chair Ackermann: Basel rules could undermine bank services

NEW DELHI, March 4 (Reuters) – Proposed Basel liquidity
rules could undermine the ability of banks to provide basic
services, Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) Chief Executive Josef
Ackermann, who is chairman of the Institute of International
Finance, said on Friday.

The Basel Committee of banking supervisors and central
bankers last year agreed a series of liquidity proposals for
banks to observe in the wake of the global financial crisis.
