TOKYO, March 17 (BestGrowthStock) – Finance Minister Naoto Kan said
on Wednesday he welcomed the Bank of Japan’s decision at its
board meeting earlier, saying the government and the central bank
were working towards a common goal of beating deflation.

He added that he would like to consider whether to set up
official meetings between the government and BOJ, although the
two sides were communicating well with each other.

“We are making efforts towards a common goal,” Kan, also
deputy prime minister, told reporters. He added: “Today’s
decision is timely.”

The central bank loosened monetary policy on Wednesday
following government pressure for action to support the economy,
although the decision came on a split vote and was seen having
limited economic impact. [ID:nECONJP]
