Japan PM to consider meeting BOJ gov as needed

TOKYO, Aug 23 (BestGrowthStock) – Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan
will consider holding face-to-face meetings with Bank of Japan
Governor Masaaki Shirakawa as needed, the finance minister told
reporters on Monday.

Kan and Shirakawa spoke by phone earlier in the day.

Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda, emerging after meeting Kan
for more than 40 minutes, told reporters he and Kan did not
discuss the size of any economic stimulus steps the government
might take.

He said Kan told him to continue watching financial markets.
