Japan transport min: to meet US counterpart in May

TOKYO, March 8 (BestGrowthStock) – Japanese Transport Minister Seiji
Maehara said on Monday he was arranging a U.S. visit in May to
meet with his counterpart, Transport Secretary Ray LaHood, to
discuss the planned development of a high-speed rail system in
the United States.

Maehara, speaking to reporters after meeting Toyota
Motor Corp (7203.T: ) President Akio Toyoda at the ministry, also
said he believed the automaker’s safety crisis would “naturally”
come up during the discussions.

“I told (Toyoda) that it was good that he visited the United
States and China and apologised, as Toyota is a global company,”
Maehara said.
