Klesch eyes Total’s Lindsey oil refinery: report

LONDON (Reuters) – Private investor Gary Klesch is close to buying Total’s (TOTF.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) British Lindsey refinery for as much as 2 billion pounds ($3.28 billion), the Sunday Telegraph said.

The Klesch Group has entered into exclusive negotiations with the French oil company to buy the Lindsey assets, which is Britain’s third largest refinery, the newspaper said.

A source close to the matter told Reuters in January that Total was in talks with at least two potential buyers and that it aimed to enter exclusive talks by the summer of 2011.

Total declined to comment on Sunday.

The 223,000 barrels per day Lindsey refinery employs about 500 people.
