London mayor wields "Dodgeball" in JPMorgan talks

LONDON, Dec 20 (BestGrowthStock) – Ben Stiller’s underdog comedy
“Dodgeball” and a Tom Cruise film famed for its shouts of “show
me the money” were pressed into service as London’s mayor sought
to ensure JPMorgan (JPM.N: ) committed to a new European base.

On Monday the U.S. bank said it would buy the former
European headquarters of Lehman Brothers in Canary Wharf, east
London, after months of deliberations. [ID:nLDE6BJ0G9]

London Mayor Boris Johnson said he swapped favourite films
with JPMorgan’s (JPM.N: ) Chief Administrative Officer Frank
Bisignano as part of the discussions.

Johnson said he gave Bisignano the “truly brilliant”
“Dodgeball”, about a small-time gym owner who fends off a bigger
rival, in return for “Jerry Maguire”, Cruise’s 1996 comedy about
a sports agent struck by a crisis of conscience.

“The key point about Dodgeball is a wonderful old fashioned
institution called Average Joe’s overcomes the challenge of
Globo Gym, and I’ve absolutely no doubt that with the kind of
investment that we’ve seen on the scale today that London will
overcome global competition,” Johnson told a news conference.
