Moneris joins RBS WorldPay bid shortlist -FT

LONDON, April 16 (BestGrowthStock) – Canada’s largest debit and credit
card processor, Moneris Solutions, has joined a string of suitors
in the second stage of bids for Royal Bank of Scotland’s (RBS.L: )
payment processing firm, the FT reported on Friday.

RBS and its adviser on the deal, UBS (UBSN.VX: ), are
whittling down a shortlist of suitors for its Global Merchant
Services (GMS) unit, which includes the WorldPay business.

Alongside Moneris, RBS will invite the private equity firm CVC
[CVC.UL] and a joint Advent International/Bain Capital bid into
the next round, the FT said.

A joint Silver Lake/Tsys bid, and other bids from buyout
groups TPG [TPG.UL], Carlyle and Permira [PERM.UL] could also stay
in the running, the paper said.

The business is expected to sell for between 2 billion and 3
billion pounds, industry sources estimate, and a competitive
auction could push the price near the top of the range.

Earlier this week sources told Reuters that UK payments firm
Voice Commerce Group had dropped out of the fray. [ID:nLDE63D27L]

The FT said JPMorgan Chase Paymentech, Atos Orign and Apax
Partners had also been unsuccessful.

RBS is being forced to sell WorldPay and other assets
including a network of 318 branches and its commodities business
by European competition authorities as a cost of being bailed
out by taxpayers during the financial crisis.

The bidders and RBS could not immediately be reached for
