Nikkei edges to 5-wk closing low; Toyota skids

TOKYO, Jan 27 (BestGrowthStock) – Japan’s Nikkei stock average edged
down 0.7 percent to a five-week closing low on Wednesday, with
exporters slipping on a stronger yen and investors wary ahead of
a Federal Reserve policy announcement and President Barack
Obama’s State of the Union address.

Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T: ) fell over 4 percent after it said
on Tuesday it will suspend sales of eight models involved in a
recall announced last week for potentially faulty accelerator
pedals. [ID:nN26229890]

The benchmark Nikkei (.N225: ) lost 73.20 points to 10,252.08,
its lowest close since Dec. 21. The broader Topix (.TOPX: ) fell 1
percent to 907.67.
