Nikkei lower as yen pares losses, eyeing earnings

TOKYO, July 12 (BestGrowthStock) – Japan’s Nikkei average edged down
on Monday as the yen pared losses and exporters let go of some
gains, with market players saying the government’s upper house
election loss had been largely priced in.

U.S. stock futures slipped, spooking investors already
nervous about U.S. earnings ahead of Alcoa’s (AA.N: ) results due
out later on Monday.

In thin trade, the benchmark Nikkei (.N225: ) shed 0.4 percent
or 37.21 points to 9,548.11 after spending most of the day in
positive territory. The broader Topix (.TOPX: ) lost 0.4 percent to
857.70.
