One killed as small plane crashes in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (BestGrowthStock) – A small plane crashed into a field in southern Alabama, killing the pilot, the Federal Aviation Administration said on Tuesday.

The plane, a fixed-wing, single-engine Beechcraft, departed the St. Elmo airport in Alabama on Monday evening and shortly afterward the pilot radioed air traffic control in Mobile for permission to return.

The pilot was the only person aboard the plane, which crashed into a field before reaching the airport. A resident saw the plane go down and then heard an explosion, local television said.
