LONDON, April 5 (Reuters) – Gold was little changed in
Europe on Tuesday as investors took to the sidelines ahead of a
European Central Bank rates decision due Thursday, with worries
over Middle East unrest and euro zone debt lending support.

Silver meanwhile hit another 31-year high.

PRICES
* Spot gold (XAU=: Quote, Profile, Research) was at $1,436.95 an ounce at 0630 GMT
compared with $1,436.55 late in New York on Monday.

* Silver (XAG=: Quote, Profile, Research) was at $38.66 from $38.42.

* Platinum (XPT=: Quote, Profile, Research) at $1,784 from $1,779.45.

* Palladium (XPD=: Quote, Profile, Research) at $782.63 from $779.50.

MARKET NEWS

* The dollar firmed a touch versus the euro as investors
assessed whether the single currency can make fresh gains given
that markets have already positioned themselves for a series of
interest rate hikes in the euro zone during 2011. [FRX/]

* Oil prices hovered near their highest levels since 2008,
with Brent near $121 a barrel, as unrest in the Middle East and
North Africa supported prices and on delays to elections in

* Asian stocks fell, although shares in resources companies
bucked the trend due to rising commodities prices that also

* European equities are seen flat as the market’s three-week

for the March quarter was 26,188 ounces, up 21.9 percent versus

Lomada trial heap leach project is nearing completion, and that
results from recently completed extension and infill drilling on

* Gold support at $1,410, resistance at $1,448, 14-day RSI
at 72.1.

* Silver support at $38.03, resistance at $38.84, 14-day RSI
at 82.4.

* Platinum support at $1,763, resistance at $1,800, 14-day
