SKY LIFTS ITS HOLDING IN ASHES TO ASHES MAKER

Satellite broadcaster BSkyB (BSY.L: ) is to increase its stake
in TV producer Shine as part of attempt to buy Japanese
electronics giant Sony out of the business. Sony’s 21 percent
stake is expected to be priced at up to 100 million dollars,
valuing Shine at around 500 million dollars. Sky will part-fund
the deal alongside Shine founder Elisabeth Murdoch, with the
broadcaster expected to up its stake from 13 percent to just
under 20 percent. Murdoch holds a 60 percent controlling stake,
with the remainder of the company’s shares held by the
management of companies Shine has acquired.
