PREVIEW-Argentina March trade surplus seen narrowing

WHAT: Argentina’s March trade balance data

WHEN: Friday, April 23

REUTERS FORECAST, TRADE SURPLUS: Median estimate $1.24
billion, 5.1 percent narrower than in March 2009

FACTORS TO WATCH: Argentina’s trade surplus was likely
impacted by a disruption in soyoil exports to China after
Chinese authorites imposed a new standard on imports. Argentina
is the world’s top soyoil supplier and China is its biggest
customer.

Argentine and Chinese officials are negotiating the changes
and there have been signs the two countries are moving towards
a possible agreement.

Argentine grains and car exports, both pillars of the
economy, continue to show growth, analyst say. In March,
exports of aluminum and mining are also expected to have grown,
the Economic Sectorial Investigation consultancy group said.
