PREVIEW-Mexico April jobless rate seen down

WHAT: Mexico unemployment rate for April

WHEN: Tuesday, May 25 at 9 a.m. local time (1400 GMT)

REUTERS FORECAST: Jobless rate seen at 4.7 percent
according to the median forecasts of twelve economists

FACTORS TO WATCH: Mexico’s unemployment rate likely fell in
April as factories expand their payrolls in order to meet
increasing demand for exports to the United States. Still,
analysts do not expect consumer spending to give the economy a
real boost until the second half of the year. If unemployment
narrows more than expected consumer demand might pick up faster
than analysts have predicted.

In March, Mexico’s unemployment rate was 4.81 percent.
