Putin says BP did not warn him on TNK-BP risks

BRYANSK, Russia (Reuters) – Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Friday BP (BP.L: Quote, Profile, Research) did not inform him about possible risks concerning BP’s Russian venture TNK-BP (TNBP.MM: Quote, Profile, Research) opposition to the British major deal with Rosneft (ROSN.MM: Quote, Profile, Research).

“I was not absolutely aware (of it). I met with the BP head and he did not say a word about it,” Putin told reporters when asked about difficulties in the $16 billion share swap and Arctic development deal with Rosneft.

He also said he saw some role for TNK-BP in future offshore projects either with Rosneft or Gazprom (GAZP.MM: Quote, Profile, Research), Russia’s top gas producer.
